My little ridiculous motivational poem:
☀️🌼🪷🍀
Just walk outdoors
Every day
Even if only a few steps
Even if you have 100 deadlines
Even if you must do a 100 zooms
Even if you don’t want to get out of bed
You might see a flower
You might watch a bird
You might feel raindrops on your face
Bad things will feel a little bit smaller
Good things will feel a little bit bigger

“If you get stuck, try again. Explore. It's not a replacement for Twitter, it's not the future, it's not anything but an experiment and a chance to learn. Start with that mindset and you'll enjoy it.”

Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, 'Treatment is simple. Go on twitter, great clown Elon Musk is destroying his reputation and all three of his businesses with increasing erratic behaviour and incompetence, the schadenfreude will cheer you up!’

‘But, Doctor…” says the man…

Seriously though, fedi was *built* by furries, trans and queer folk, disabled neurodivergent people.

This is *the reason* the culture here is what it is. Why CWs are a thing. Why image descriptions are a thing. Why privacy matters here. Why moderation tools not only exist, but are usable — and used.

If you had joined and asked yourself "wow, how come this place is so chill and kinda… nice?" — that's thanks to all the nice people from communities some people call "weird".

So #KeepFediWeird.

In recent years, we became too comfortable letting #Twitter define journalism & media. Algorithms often dictated the narratives we collectively paid attention to.

Absurd trends were covered by news outlets & ballooned into major stories while we missed so much real substance. And the quick takes of uninformed politicians & bad actors were forced upon anyone participating in the network.

It was bad for democracy. The #Mastodon model makes me hopeful we can do better. #twittermigration

@taylorlorenz Thank you for putting this together. A+++. So useful!
Fedified.com is a list of Twitter-verified accounts that have moved to Mastodon. This is a hand-curated list, so it's updated a few times a day. https://fedified.com/

Is there a tweet-crossposting hashtag I can mute? I'd like to let my Mastodon experience not be the same as my Other Site Experience. (I'm painfully old-school about automated crossposting, which I feel like I already see plenty of between IG and FB.)

Notice how he's defining verification as pertaining to journalists, not public figures more generally.

That's nutty, first of all, bc one of the values that pre-Elmo Twitter had was its utility for journalists.

Way to kill more value, boss.
