I block people for unsolicited advice, being argumentative etc, I don’t engage with them. This is a really simple boundary and whether you respect it tells me what I need to know.

Didn’t tell her the reason for the cPTSD or that her chain smoking in the car when I was a kid and not letting me wind the windows down was the main cause. But I didn’t end up with her saying deliberately hurtful stuff and slamming the phone down either, so it feels like a win on points.
Phoned mum earlier, I’m full of a cold again for the second time in 4 weeks after two people in a month surprised me with a hug.
“Can I give you a suggestion?” She asked and then without waiting said “have you thought about trying to boost your immune system?” I told her I’m doing everything that’s suggested and she said “so why’s your immune system so bad?” And distilled all the reasons down to “I’ve got PTSD and the stress part lowers your immune system” she seemed happy with that
Asking the staff at the hardware store if I’ll understand WD-40 if I’ve not used the other 39
Phone call from the letting agent, we were supposed to get the keys Tuesday so we could decorate Tuesday and Wednesday before the new carpets are fitted on Thursday, but the cleaners have arrived 3 days early and he’s now away this week so we get the keys tonight!
I wish there was a little more time between “I should cut my toe nails tomorrow” and “Quick! Someone call The Guinnes Book Of Records!”
It’s beautiful, the horrible, selfish thoughts about things like whether he can have free stuff from the shop where she dies, and how he can do the things she’d get annoyed at. All intermingled with the grief and sadness over the tragedy. It’s so wonderfully realised and truthful. I love it.

I’m nearly at the end of reading all the Stephen King books and short story collections in publication order.

I just read a short story called “Premium Harmony” which is told from the Point of View of an early middle aged man whose wife dies unexpectedly at age 34, and I just love it as horrible as it is, because as with all ofKing’s books it deals with the internal life of the character, and in this case with the horrible thoughts he has

Me replying to someone telling me they’d used the same argument that day “I swear we’re all living the same life!”

Them “We are absolutely not living the same life we all have things that happen to us at different points and different locations and we all learn in different ways. We are not sheep!”

Wow, okay.

Haha, just saw a response from a couple of days ago to a post from nearly a year ago that was taking what I said SO literally whilst also taking the worst possible reading of what I meant that I thought it had to be a joke right through to the end, when I went, “oh”.

I keep defending Mastodon from the overly literal accusations, but Christ some of you make it hard 😂

Also, I’ve taken on about 3 times more work than I’d usually be able to do over this month which means we can move without it being financially unmanageable.

The shifting moving date also means we’ve most of the house already packed with 2 weeks and 2 days to go.
