Nestled within the breathtaking Northern Japan Alps, Kamikochi is a picturesque valley that captivates visitors with its serene beauty.
Hikers are spoiled for choice with a network of scenic trails that lead to stunning vistas, alpine meadows, and cascading waterfalls. It's a great destination to escape the summer heat in Tokyo.
Kegon Falls in Tochigi Prefecture drops 97 meters into the blue waters below. Take a ride on the Kegon Falls Ropeway for a breathtaking view from above or take a hike to the base of the falls for an up-close experience.
The scene is especially beautiful when the falls are surrounded by autumn colors or lush greenery in early summer.
Kaimondake, or Mount Kaimon, rests in southern Kyushu on the Satsuma Peninsula. The iconic volcano attracts a lot of admirers with its appealing shape that draws comparisons to Mount Fuji. In fact, Kaimondake is also called “Satsuma Fuji” for its resemblance.
Despite the similarities, Kaimondake is much easier to climb, so hikers can enjoy views of Kagoshima from its peak with relative ease.
