A classic travel day driving from Kumamoto to Beppu. We stopped for a hike at Mount Aso, but due to high volcanic activity, the main crater was closed. We still got to explore the surrounding inactive craters, which was impressive.

Once in Beppu, we visited one of the "Seven Hells" and ended the day relaxing in a local onsen.

Day 17: Started with a ride on the Takachiho Amaterasu Railway followed by a visit to the gorge. Later, we explored the moss-covered Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine.

Back in Kumamoto now for another night. A beautiful day in nature.
