Buses are ignored as a climate solution because most of the people talking about climate have no lived experience with buses. So instead they propose personally relevant solutions like electrifying privately owned cars and “green” buildings located far from bus routes.

Had a particularly eventful ride across the heart of Downtown KCMO this week that reinforced the need for a safe and protected east-west bikeway. I'm safe, and so is the family of five who were biking to school together.

The 11th/12th Street pair is on the city's bike plan, and there was a planning project in 2021 to design both a bikeway and a transit lane, but there has been no movement to construct the safety improvements.
