Ah, schadenfreude.

Forgive me, but if your "industry" depends entirely on stealing someone else's work, it deserves to die.

@louie omfg the penny press machine is WILD

Just had a session with an app team who've developed with Flutter. On Windows they have a pretty basic landing screen: a language selector button, two columns of text, an input field and a submit button, and a link.

We spent 30 minutes just breaking down all the ways it is unusable with NVDA, and I do mean that in the truest sense of the word. Without object navigation, you can't reach most of the context and controls. Even when you manage to reach e.g. the submit button, pressing Space or Enter on it does nothing.

I feel bad for the team, but Google should feel worse. #accessibility

The disrespect for HTML feels …childish? If you can’t build your websites using HTML properly how can you call yourself a professional? It’s embarrassing. Folks going on about AI hallucinating and outputting shit code meanwhile they can’t even wrap a piece of text in a paragraph tag.
Please note that Google folding on this critical privacy initiative makes it harder for any other web browser to provide this protection due to compatibility concerns. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/04/google-wont-ditch-third-party-cookies-in-chrome-after-all/

@vaurora I thought mine we’re bad at 6-8 hours! Damn.
People like to think Asimov predicted the current technology known as "artificial intelligence". They are wrong. It was Douglas Adams when a computer spent untold resources just to return an answer which is both irrelevant and poses further questions.

When you find yourself in the middle of a complex human rights debate and you think it must be nuanced and how do you know which side is right anyway... Ask yourself this question:

Which side in this battle - any battle - is backed by major international human rights organisations you've heard of (e.g. Amnesty International, UN Human Rights Commission, Human Rights Watch, Oxfam) and which side is backed by a few celebrities with money to spend and a handful of organisations you'd probably never heard of until this week?

I know which side is likely to be right, in the long run.
