Greetings!

Please note! I often write about ecological sustainability. Furthermore, I don't try to "sugarcoat" the scale of the challenge - if people are going to reduce the impact of their ecologically degrading societies.

I study Evolutionary Biology, Conservation Biology (Ecology) & human psychology.
All the scientific & traditionally inherited knowledge is known regarding how to mitigate ecological degradation.

+ The effects of climate change will motivate change.

The photo is of a garden pond. Whilst the pond is relatively tiny, approx 2.5 by 1.5 metres, in this small space - nature is thriving. As well as the plants, there are many aquatic animals in the pond including Newts.

The pond was easy to get growing.

1. Dig a hole.
2. Place a waterproof liner in the hole .
3. Once the pond is full of rain water (don't use tap water), add a small bucket of pondlife (e.g., a few plants, some pond mud, from a nearby pond).

#Nature will do the rest!

The only way is up! 🌡️ (temperature)

For the neoliberal (free-market) growth economies!

I'm not surprised that people don't want to see where it's all heading! That must be some potent denial & greenwashing

How to actually reduce Greenhouse gas emissions https://climatejustice.social/@empiricism/110418273424332975

People will have to live a low-impact lifestyle to mitigate #ClimateChange.

Hedging my bets, the climate will be the effect, the regulator, that will mitigate human ecological degrading activities.

Attached: 1 image This is how we live sustainably! ✅ How we live within the planet's limits. How we prevent an ecological armageddon. If that is not enough of a reason? to promote this One Planet Sustainability approach, it's already over! Title – One Planet #Sustainability Sub-title – Singing "Kum ba yah" whilst drinking the Kool-Aid around the campfire won’t prevent climate change. The following information explains by referencing practical, relatively easy-to-follow and do guidance, on how to grow food sustainably whilst also restoring ecology (e.g., wildlife). A practical and easily implementable, win-win solution - not that reason will prevent the irrational [biased & illogical] from arguing against a reasonable & practical approach. There are many well-intended people in #business & #politics that are thinking about ways to try & mitigate #ClimateChange (greenwashes aside as their dangerously useless). People's personal circumstances, e.g., managing a company, can make the challenges of mitigating their business's climate impacts overwhelming. Cooperation is the right approach to mitigate ecological degradation. Competition is the wrong approach. More generally, operationally, there are two approaches to mitigate climate change, the top-down approach (e.g., government or management) or the roots, or the bottom-up approach (no pun intended. e.g., local communities). So, people are in different circumstances (No S--t Sherlock!). However, there is an increasing number of people that if the right policies were in place, would have a huge positive impact on mitigating ecological degradation, therefore, lessening the impacts of climate change. To quote the One Planet Development Council "This forward-thinking planning policy provides a genuinely affordable and sustainable way for people to live and work on their own land, bringing social, economic, and environmental benefits" (see reference section. 1.) Well-intended policymakers that want to mitigate ecological degradation therefore climate change will do well to develop policies that enable the people that want to - to grow food sustainably whilst also restoring nature (win-win). Generally, the One Planet Policy needs vastly scaling up. The effects of climate change will become more severe. We will need more people that are living in ways that grow food locally, are increasing biodiversity, & generally living a low-impact lifestyle (win-win-win) I urge policymakers & social influencers in general, that are not confined by the business-as-usual paradigm (paradox), to review the One Planet Development Policy (OPDP). For example, of an urgently required revision to the OPDP - according to the medical (e.g., epidemiology) and #climatology (i.e., climate science) evidence, burning biomass (e.g., wood fuel) is not sustainable, therefore not a generally renewable, source of energy (when scaled up). Furthermore, prolonged exposure to wood smoke inhalation (e.g., over the years) increases the probability of developing diseases (it biologically ages people). Furthermore, wood smoke, or tobacco smoke inhalation is harmful to the fetus during pregnancy (See reference section. 2.) Therefore, the OPDP should be revised to consider clean air & relatively low-energy methods of heating such as heat pumps. The OPDP should also be revised to meet the requirements of the ecological landscape of any area. For example, the types of #plants and #fungi that can be grown in a region. Also, the time scales involved (will be variable) to improve the soils conditions, to grow food, will be different as many areas of land have soils that have been severely damaged by industrial forms of farming (e.g., overgrazing, insecticides [poisons], and mechanized machinery such as tractors that decrease soil fertility. See reference section. 3.) Business As Usual (BAU) is a climate paradox (that's why it seems difficult. Because BAU can't possibly mitigate climate change). BAU has been full of “what about?” excuses that have caused the outcome that the window of opportunity to mitigate severe climate change is closing fast (it's now or never to prevent the worst-case scenarios). Many ecological landscapes are generally in extremely poorly managed conditions. The time of BAU ecological negligence will inevitably end. (e.g., climate change, food & fuel shortages) In summary, One Planet Development – Just do it already! The One Planet Development approach will also buy time for relatively large businesses and society, in general, to adapt. Business as usual won't mitigate #ClimateChange - it's the problem.

The climate conferences have sold out (if they were ever legit)

People latch on to faux prophets whilst cherry-picking info - proclaiming it's a good sign that more electric #cars are being purchased. #Business people & consumerists looking for consumerist answers - that require more mining, therefore fuel burning, etc.

The wealthiest nations want to exploit the sea floor for EV resources.

The #climate is their nemesis.

Have you heard about the plans to try & make cities' infrastructure more #climate resilient by constructing more flood defenses? Or maybe send some humans to Mars to start a colony (a "plan B" < #Musk ).

These methods generally mean trying to solve the problems caused by emitting greenhouse gases by using methods that emit more greenhouse gases (a hack, not a solution)

When things get crazy, it's time to focus on the #sustainable solutions. Stop burning fuel https://climatejustice.social/@empiricism/110418273424332975

In 2015, #Cumbria , #England , a storm flooded the region & destroyed infrastructure, caused landslides, etc.

The photographs are of tourist information signs that were placed after the floods.

The signs do mention that "Did you know? Riding your bike accounts for about 21g of CO2 emissions per km - ten times less than a car!"

But, the local authorities keep quite about how the surrounding landscape is (mis)managed in a way that makes more severe flooding a certainty #SheepFarming #climate

Since this post received no boosts, I thought I'd better edit it so as to dial down the message somewhat + I added a photo of a #sports #car (the #tech affect)

A photograph of a landscape in #Cumbria , #England that will be hammered by droughts (summer) & floods (generally autumn) as the effects of climate change intensify.

But, the fewer greenhouse gases people emit today & tomorrow, the less #ClimateChange will "hammer".
