My child and I sit inside, forever isolated, no community, no collective care. If pride is a riot, we must celebrate Marsha P Johnson as the leader of disability justice.
She fought for the liberation of Black, Trans disabled folx. She fought for support for HIV care for 2S, Trans and queer folx.
To lead with justice, we must commit to true inclusion,; N95 mask required events, wheelchair access, illness mitigations, isolation policies, anti-ableist training, sensory safe spaces, adult changing stations, tube feeding areas, ASL, BLASL, hand talk, buttons, body language, and AAC user support, and free caregivers.
Disabled folx need celebratory access.

I’ve learned and unlearned so much about parenting, about inclusion, about a deep praxis of love from my child.
The hardest part of being disabled, and parenting a disabled child is the ways in capitalist society, and the medical system try to shame your love, try to steal your joy.

While playing at the local accessibility playground with my child, I noticed a sw*stika recently painted on the ground.
It’s not an “accident” or a “coincidence” that this individual choose to use the n*zi symbol that represents eugenics towards intellectually disabled children in the one safe space that disabled folx have to play.
