When I walked over our campus this morning, I saw some magical ice crystals, still undisturbed.

Despite being a scientist, in these moments, nature's beauty always fascinates me.

I remember that day: we were not sure if we could make the cruise due to announced road closure because of snow. But in the end we had an incredible tour of Milford Sound!

With the temperatures dropping, I feel it might be time for a #throwback to Jökulsárlón, #iceland. Stunning to see the mighty blocks of glacier ice drifting through the lagoon and at the same time depressing to know that it probably won't last to the end of the century.

🇮🇸 Northern Lights 🌌

On our 3rd day in Iceland, at Snæfellsnes, we got lucky: no clouds and a good aurora forecast. We headed out at around 9:45pm and quickly saw a faint greyish haze to the north. It quickly became more vivid and intense and we stayed outside almost two hours, marvelling at the sight. A very impressive experience!

While staying at and driving around Snæfellsnes of course we had to stop near Kirkjufell.
And the frozen falls of Kirkjufellsfoss offered some very cool photo opportunities.
