An independent journalist with unapologetic principles is awaiting a jury verdict. Wishing all the best for @alissaazar

Send good thoughts. This is someone who has dedicated a lot to community support and thoughtful coverage of important regional events.

An antifascist was found "not guilty" of the charge of assaulting a police officer following a mobilization in defense of a drag event in #FortWorth, #Texas last spring.

During the trial however - journalists report that a former member of the fascist group the New Columbia Movement, a group which regularly rallies with neo-Nazis, attacks Jews, and was founded by a self-described "national socialist wignat," has launched a lawsuit against the same antifascist - and it is reportedly being funded by billionaire real-estate mogul and #Republican mega-donor, Monty Bennett.

Bennett is notorious for swindling millions in PPP loans, massive donations to the campaigns of Donald Trump and Texas governor Greg Abbott, and for pushing far-Right attacks on the #LGBTQ community and public education.

As Texas Antifascist Found “Not Guilty,” Billionaire GOP Mega-Donor Reportedly Bankrolling Lawsuit for Fascist, Anti-Semitic Group

On Thursday, August 8th, Chris "Big Tex," was found not guilty by a jury in a criminal trial on charges of "assault on a police officer," following a mobilization in the spring of 2023 in defense of a drag event at a brewery in Fort Worth, Texas in response to threats from fascist groups. In...

It's Going Down

"Accepting the dominance of top-down and would-be vanguardist organizations hurts movements. Silencing criticisms of such groups in the name of “unity” is no excuse. We have seen time and again how these organizations ultimately prioritize their own organizational interests, which means recruiting, capturing the spotlight, spreading their party line, not dirtying their hands with real, long term organizing, not dedicating time to the labor of care or prisoner support, and sending others to carry out risky actions without informing them of the risks, without supporting them when they are arrested, and without taking risks themselves."

Open Letter to the Encampments and Protests in Support of Palestine

An open letter offering a critical analysis of the campus based movement in solidarity with Palestine. Download and print a PDF zine version here. As the summer sets in and most of the encampments pack up, the genocide will surely continue. Nothing we have done collectively seems to have slowed it down in any measurable...

It's Going Down
When victims of abuse "come forward" (what a euphemism!), the work that they're then made to do is not for their own benefit. It's been framed this way, so that victims are imagined to begin to "heal" once they confess their shame (excuse me--speak their truths), but in reality the process of "coming forward" is one that nearly exclusively benefits the communities they're "coming forward" to, whether the end goal is to confirm that abuse doesn't exist or to address the abuse that does exist (often both). Either way, the victim needs to labor endlessly in this process.
Consider, for example, how many episodes of Law and Order: SVU include Olivia Benson, supposed hero to victims everywhere, demanding that rape victims endanger themselves by participating in the criminal punishment process because they have a duty to their communities. I remember very clearly a variety of women at doorways, telling Detective Benson that they just wanted to get on with their lives and Benson, our hero, telling them that that was wrong and selfish.
The question "why didn't she come forward earlier" is effectively "why didn't she start doing this unpaid, punishing, and humiliating labor during or immediately after being victimized?" But of course the "why didn't she come forward earlier" crowd don't reward people who "come forward" ever. The timeline is irrelevant. "Why didn't she come forward earlier" is a prompt for the victim to participate in the labor of confirming that abuse doesn't exist. Her answer is irrelevant, because the question isn't actually a question.
Upcoming benefit show on March 16th for Chris "Big Tex" G in #Austin as part of #SmashBySmashWest.

Activists are performing flyer drops from parking garages and other structures near the road closures at #sxsw this week to protest the sponsorship of war profiteers.

INTRODUCING!!

THECHILD AND ITS ENEMIES, a brand new podcast produced by Sabot Media and hosted by a rad youth organizer. Check it out wherever podcast are sold.

INTRO-
Hello and welcome to THE CHILD AND ITS ENEMIES, a podcast for and about queer and neurodivergent kids and teens living out anarchy and youth liberation.

Here at THE CHILD AND ITS ENEMIES we believe that youth autonomy is not only crucial to queer and trans liberation, but to anarchy itself. Governance is inherently based on projecting linear narratives of time and Development and gender onto our necessarily asynchronous and atemporal queer lives, and kids, teens, and everyone else affected by anti-child ageism are at the center of this form of oppression.

Our goal with the podcast is to create a space by and for kids and teens that challenges all forms of control and inspires us to create neuroqueer, feral, ageless networks of care.

I'm your host, mk zariel. My pronouns are they/them, I'm fifteen years old, and I'm the youth correspondent at the Anarchist Review of Books, author of the blog Debate Me Bruh, and organizer of some all-ages queer spaces in my city and online. With me today is our first-ever guest, Skye Gia Garcia, who is a community organizer and freedom fighter! Hello, Skye!
