There's plenty of reason to boycott and protest SXSW, but this is certainly one of them.
The best show I've ever been to was (I think) part of Texas Rockfest, which is essentially a fuck you to SXSW. It was Joan Jett, Tom Morello, and Les Claypool on a shitty little stage in a shitty little bar jamming out. They ended with the original version of "This Land is Your Land."
And, of course, at one point Tom Morello said "Fuck SXSW."

in 2012, the Occupy movement here put on a slate of alternatives to #sxsw. Morello was an official sxsw guest but at one point we marched on the club where he was playing and he came out onto the street and played music and led a sing along for everyone.
