One of the coolest things of making an ultra fast, local, TTS system, is that you can give real time voices to your AI systems. Play with a demo here. It's a bit like the Realtime API from OpenAI, but free instead of 10 cents per minute. Play with it on the website to chat with Speaklone in real time. Why pay for voice?

*Sigh* Once more unto the breach, dear friends. I’m back on the job market and looking for the right fit.

I have experience:
💡As a versatile UX / product designer,
🔍 As a dedicated user researcher,
🤝🏼 As a compassionate design leader, and;
🛠️ As a front end developer who cares deeply about accessibility and performance.

A small sample of favorite projects I’ve worked on over the years

@caseyliss - I could barely bring myself to look. I was a Sr. Designer at a daily newspaper for a decade back in the day before changing careers and becoming an iOS dev in 2009. I always hate everyone's portfolio.

But I did look. This is wonderful stuff. We really need someone with these skills in our organization at my day job, but I don't know if the timing is right. I'll advocate.

Good luck, either way, to your talented friend.

@dylanmalone Back in the 80’s at Apple, I was asked to write an app to let developers play with the text to speech on the Macintosh. I put something together that let you play with the settings, make presets, etc. I got it to do a fair imitation of Julia Childs. It pronounced “doughnut” as “duffnut.” But I think there were ways to make it do right with some control characters. My Inside Macintosh is now buried in a closet, so may be wrong about that.

@dadakopf - you have no idea how much I love these little tidbits from 1980s Apple. Thanks for being a part of it all!

Now I want a duffnut though.

@danvpeterson - that's one of my use cases too. I'm also working on a novel, and very soon will add an audiobook reader to help authors out. I prefer human narrators for production, but DURING the writing, it helps to have a really good ML voice read a page back to me while I pace around the room full of self doubt and loathing. :)

It does have system wide TTS and STT even now, including an API actually.

I realize I'm biased, but tell me this isn't one of the coolest examples of local on device ML on Apple Silicon today? Very proud of this app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/speaklone/id6758415075

Fun when a YouTuber (who makes a lot of great content by the way, check her out), features my new app Speaklone, and it's already made an impact. It's nice to see people enjoy something you worked so hard on, and very motivating to work more! #indiedev #macoS #ios

@twostraws - that's some quality quipping. lol

Even a sandboxed Mac App Store app can really do a lot on #macoS these days. Really proud of how well Speaklone brings hyper accurate, fast dictation, plus state of the art voice cloning and speech to text to the Mac. Can't listen to Siri much longer! #iOS #indiedev
