I have been blacksmithing a while and live in the Pacific Northwest. I'll be posting about what I'm making, ideas of things to make, things related to metal working, and occasionally about what's happening in the PNW.

I speak English, can speak French, Norwegian, and Italian pretty well, and am pretty OK reading/writing Swedish, Danish, and Spanish. Feel free to write to me in any of these languages.

Vegan for the animals.

Has anybody in Western #Cascadia ever grown lentils? Please, tell me about it!

I know these are atypical choices, but that's part of the fun.
I have been thinking about picking up music again. I grew up playing the piano, but now I want to try something new. Which should I do?

lol oh my god i feel **so fucking smug** right now, it's incredible. my whole body is tingling.

#PhotoOfTheDay is another shot of the table knife that I forged out of a found spring or coil that was "rusted and busted." It cleaned up nicely.

The little dark specks are from imprecise hammer strikes, which I have mixed feelings about. On the one hand I shouldn't make them (I've gotten so much better) but also they show that the knife was made by hand & not just cranked out by a machine in some factory. The aesthetic of my work is important to me.

If I'm working on a #programming project and the cat in my lap is purring, is that vibe coding?

i used to have to change car batteries several times per week as part of my job while i was at university. i guess those skills came in handy today changing the battery on my car.

i'm honestly surprised the battery lasted this long- i bought the car in 2016 and the first time it showed hesitation starting was saturday morning. then the car wouldn't start sunday. we don't use our car that often (only about 20k miles/32k km in over 10 years including a drive from FL to WA)- driving twice in one week is very rare for us.

but i couldn't get a ride to the auto parts store to get a new one until today (there's not a good direct enough bus route to a place that sells them where i would've been willing to carry the battery).

@PalmAndNeedle @dustin Found the photo of his setup.

Yup, it's tiny. The geared blower is the largest part and he was very proud of it. It says Champion, Lancaster on there and if you look it up it's an antique collectible that goes for quite a bit of money.

We're starting a new story today! Around 5PM Pacific Time!
