3/ The timing was inadvertantly prescient: we submitted our final report the same day #HurricaneHelene was pummelling western #NorthCarolina. The lessons we learned about the role of adaptable streets in building local resilience have never been more important to transportation planning.

@jonty When I was little, we had a garbage can with a busted bottom, so that it could not hold the weight of garbage anymore. For the life of us we could not figure out how to get the garbage guys to take it.

@aburtch we have a few EcoFlow delta units, which can keep our essentials (fridge, sump pump, electronics, etc) running for DAYS without power. They are pricey, but orders of magnitude cheaper than a generator. Silent, portable, and solar-rechargeable.
