The concept of money
Is a ruler a source of length?
Is a graduated cylinder a source of volume?
Is a clock a source of time?
Is a thermometer a source of heat?
Units of measure are not the thing measured.
"Apple" is not an apple.
Ceci n'est pas une pipe.
Money isn't "value", and it's not exactly a MEASURE of value, it's a UNIT OF ACCOUNT, subtly different. Socially recognised, often though not always legally binding.
