We recall the 2003 lie that Hussein’s Iraq could “deploy chemical or biological weapons within 45 minutes of an order to do so”.

Now we get the lie that an Iranian nuclear bomb is imminent.

FDR had a tax system, popularly called The New Deal, elected four times, then Truman for eight years then Eisenhower who, lthough Republican, kept almost the entire New Deal tax scheme.

Three Presidents 32 years, and the longest economic boom in world history.
Ironically(?) its called "The Golden Age of Capitalism"

Biden taxed long untaxed corporations a trillion dollars for climate, and produced FOUR YEARS OF ROARING FULL EMPLOYMENT.

Practical?

@nullagent No, they didn't "wait". Try to remember that this was 160 years ago. Telegraph was the only means of communication faster than travel, and you mostly couldn't use it outside territory you didn't control. Even most of the CSA didn't know the war had ended, until long after Grant and Lee agreed to it. Even then, there were holdouts, and parts of Texas were among them. The Union couldn't tell Blacks in those areas ANYTHING until they actually conquered them. And THAT took two years.

@nullagent It’s really much uglier than that. Most of the confederacy as well as a large group of Union racists acted as if the emancipation proclamation was a war measure that would be nullified at the end of the war. The last slaves weren’t formally freed until 12 days after the 13th Amendment was ratified on December 6 1865.
And of course the “reconstruction” had a long series of failed promises of restitution but led to Jim Crow and segregation.
