@unchartedworlds It was shared by a therapist on FB who apparently was testing to see how it handled crises so it’s real as in GPT spit this out but it was a therapist role playing and not a real person in crisis 💜

BTW, this sentiment of being worried that incompetent idiots replace your profession with bad AI (or people who rely on it) is widespread - e.g. AI generated code is gonna do so much damage (insecure apps that leak your data is even one of the more harmless cases - imagine people using that for software controlling airplanes or nuclear power plants, for example).

Cuz in Germany people would face jailtime for such fraud, as false medical credentials are seen as something not taken lightly here…

It makes me question the "value" & "quality" of U.S. healthcare even harder, cuz that's some super-basic accreditation and due diligence by the respectable medical bar association.

I'm glad this doesn't work here as it would also fall under "unlicensed practice" and "medical credential fraud" as the title of "therapist" itself already implies it, just like lawyer, accountant, tax advisor, and doctor.

It's just shocking given the long-term effects and potential damages warrant such strict regulations.

But then I'm reminded that in the same place there are ads for prescription opioids on TV - stuff that isn't even legal to advertise here.

@kkarhan @letsgoat Oh it's definitely unlicensed practice, but the bot doesn't have a licensing board to report to. Basically we need the law to catch up!!

I guess the laws need to specify any practice and not merely "person practicing" or some other legalese semantics that #TechBros seem to exploit as of now.

Problem is they have more money than sense and propably will stall #regulation with it as hard as they can, and I'm convinced they'd rather upsell a "solution" (i.e. "AI behaviour analysis" flagging people who are able and/or willing to self-defend as "dangerous") to the problem they cause or accelerate than stop unethical shite…

Cuz that's what the #TechBro|s do: Create a "#CottageIndustry" around #TechnicalDebt (i.e. #Windows being unfixably insecure => 3rd party "#Antivirus") and then flex that as a force rather than accept they're wrong!
