The reason I require a bit of conversation first is simple: Even though this account is (mostly) anonymous, conversation is a primary determinant for personality/conversational compatibility and interest overlap areas. I do look at tooters' profiles and toots before deciding whether or not to follow or accept follow requests but conversation is a much more personal and insightful experience.😀 This model tends to reward initiative and effort while discouraging the "merely curious."😉

Also, just because I follow your account doesn't mean I will automatically approve your follow request in return. I follow accounts because I'm interested in what they have to say or share, regardless of whether or not I know the tooters IRL. I do NOT follow because I desire a follow-back; that's not how I roll. So, yes, even if I'm already following you and we don't know each other, I still require a bit of conversation first to help me decide whether or not to accept your follow request.

Simply boosting my intro toot, while much appreciated, isn't the equivalent of "conversation." So, converse with me a bit BEFORE sending follow requests.
