Should we just cut straight into “Dutch proverbs and sayings 101”?
In 1705 a Dutch woman discovered a 5 lb. fossil tooth in what would later become New York. For 30 years she and a man of her family traveled the continent seeking more bones. Finally in 1739 they found a full skeleton in Kentucky and proposed the revolutionary idea that the elephant-like creature was from an extinct species.
They named the species after themselves.
Their names were #JoanMastodon and #JohnMastodon.
