Have you tried following someone and it says "pending"?

In theory this is meant to only happen when someone has manual follower approval switched on. If they have it switched on, there will be a padlock 🔒 next to their name on their profile.

However, "pending" may also happen if servers are overwhelmed and your request is in a long queue, or there is some kind of technical fault.

Don't assume someone is rejecting your follow if you see "pending". They might not even know it is happening.

If you want to see Mastodon at its best, strongly recommend these options:

 Android - Use apps Tusky or Fedilab

  iPhone/iPad - Use apps Metatext or Toot!

💻 Computers - Log in through your server's website

Mastodon was designed for websites and third party apps. These are *still* the best ways to use Mastodon!

(Official app exists because new people were only looking for an official app in app stores, and giving up when they didn't find one. You don't need to use it!)

It's a time for an #introduction!
I'm Tal and I've been working in the #cyber #security field for 10 years or so, mostly discovering and exploiting vulnerabilities. I started on #windows (x86 assembly), as well as #web and #cloud security, but moved after a few years to the embedded scene, specifically on automotive security.

Recently I'm back to the cloud working as a security research in a start-up, alongside doing my graduate studies on theoretical Computer Science (mainly #computational #complexity), which I finished just this month! (But there is still a paper to be presented at the ITCS conference this January)

For hobbies I spend my time doing silly #tech #projects and playing #VideoGames, mostly in the #MMORPG genre, but I really play anything that manages to capture my interest.

I had been a lurker on Twitter for the past couple of years, mainly reading on cyber security related news, and have decided to be more active now that I've migrated to Mastodon (as I feel way more comfortable sharing things with a small community...In Twitter always felt like the whole world is watching).
