I hope Linux as a mobile phone OS makes it.

The world needs to move on from Android. It's too far gone to be saved.

Am I the only one wishing there was a phone that was repairable, could run Ubuntu touch, PostmarketOS and de-googled Android and was made with people and environment in mind?
Imagine Volla Phone X23 and Fairphone 6 had a child. That's the phone I'd buy. Yesterday.
Gentoo Takes the First Step to Ditch Microsoft Copilot-Infested GitHub

Wondering about the replacement? Gentoo is betting on Codeberg.

It's FOSS

Last week at @cfgmgmtcamp, Kairos maintainers @mrls and @dkarakasilis ran a hands-on workshop on getting started with immutable Kubernetes.

The room was full, and the level of engagement throughout the session made one thing clear: this topic resonates with real operational needs.

Thanks to everyone who joined, experimented, and challenged assumptions. Seeing this level of interest confirms we’re addressing a problem teams are actively facing today.

If you’d like to follow the workshop on your own, all the materials are available here: https://github.com/jimmykarily/cfgmgmtcamp-kairos-workshop

Kairos maintainers @dkarakasilis and @mrls presented Hadron at FOSDEM 2026 in the Distributions devroom.

Hadron is a Linux distribution aimed at cloud-native and edge environments, shaped by years of building, operating, and debugging immutable systems across multiple distributions.

The talk focuses on practical lessons learned which helped us shape our own distribution.

FOSDEM 2026 - What Image-Based Systems Taught Us About Linux Distributions: Lessons From Kairos and Why We Built Hadron

Last Saturday, Kairos maintainers @dkarakasilis, @mrls and William Rizzo met together with Kamaji maintainer Dario Trachitella during FOSDEM 2026.

This isn’t a one-off interaction. Last year, we collaborated at Cloud Native Days Italy, running a hands-on workshop on hosted control planes with immutable worker nodes.

These kinds of long-term maintainer relationships are how ideas mature into production-ready systems, across projects, not in isolation.

We’re excited to welcome William Rizzo as a new Kairos maintainer 🎉 He's been contributing for a while now, and it's great to have him officially join the team.

Welcome William Rizzo, New Kairos Maintainer

Announcing William Rizzo as a new Kairos maintainer.

This week’s Kairos maintainers call is up 🎥

Lots of good discussion on Hadron Linux, trusted boot, providers, and how we keep Kairos’ documentation distro-agnostic as it evolves.
