OpenAI verliest snel marktaandeel. Jouw abonnement houdt dit systeem in stand. Zeg op, stap over op ethische alternatieven zoals LeChat of Claude.

You know what WON’T get stuck in the Strait of Hormuz?

Sunlight and solar panels.

Not well documented, but you can add paths to the AUTOSWAP.LST file on an SD2IEC (C64).

Getting it to work can be a bit fiddly. It helps to stick to DOS 8.3 filenames on the SD card.

You can force the swaplist to reload with:
OPEN1,8,15,"XS":CLOSE1

Example that works for me:

vizawrite.d64
//documents/:data.d64

The human capacity for hope is an essential quality. But hope can also turn into delusion.

This is a link to an article written by someone else, not me:

"I tried building my startup entirely on European infrastructure. Here's the stack I landed on, what was harder than expected, and what you still can't avoid."

We need more stories like this being shared in the open. You can criticise some parts of the decisions made here, but that's not the point. Someone tried, learned and shares the result. *That's* the point.

"Made in EU" - it was harder than I thought.

Fixed a 1991 Commodore 1084S-D2 monitor with irregular horizontal color flicker.

Cleaned the board with isopropanol, replaced most capacitors, did some reflowing of joints, and treated potentiometers with DeoxIT. Was more work than this post suggests, but happy to have it working properly again — now hooked up to my C64.

Sped up the C64 Game of Life implementation by about 6× using a smarter algorithm.

Moved the repository from a US-based company to a European one:

Unexpectedly, my C64c essentially keeps on working when its fuse is blown, except for some chips like the SID (sound).

That was the last place I searched to solve the missing sound.

Thinking about shutting down https://data.digitopia.nl , one less computer that needs power and care.

The vic 1541 drive I bought didn’t function. Green and red led stay on. Found that the 74ls14 inverter didn’t invert the ATN signal on the IEC bus. Hope it works after a replacement. #c64 #1541 #floppy #repair
