The same interferogram after phase unwrapping below shows displacements in colors from dark blue meaning about 20 centimeters of uplift to dark yellow meaning about 6 centimeters of downward motion, due to slip on the fault at depth. The line between positive and negative displacement is near the top of the fault. Seismological analysis can use this to better determine how much slip occurred on each fault patch at depth. #earthquake #morocco #InSAR #sentinel1

Hum... not so rare maybe ? low Mw, dense vegetation cover, seems quite usual in our slow deforming european places. But Insar remains essential :) @RaphaelGrandin @Stef_EQ_Geology
Proud to see our french-croatian collaborative work on the Petrinja quake finally published https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2022GL100166 : rapide remeasure of civilian benchmarks may change the game in understanding small #earthquakes @Stef_EQ_Geology
On strike, again. Continued cuts to pension and year-on-year cuts to real terms pay are just not fair, particularly for my junior colleagues. The workload has become unsustainable. Something needs to change. #ucuRISING

According to posts on twitter, there are significant damages and at least 2 fatalities after a moderate magnitude M5.6 #earthquake in western Java island, Indonesia. Inland shallow fault rupture, close to towns, likely explain the destructions.

This week, we visited a gallo-roman site (Villards-d’Heria) located on a potentially active fault in the Jura Mts 🇫🇷.

There are definitely disorders on archeological remnants that need to be investigated 🧐.
