Daily affirmations from MissConstrue:

What you are experiencing is trauma. Nonstop, never ending, increasingly worse, trauma. Your government has proven to be inept, corrupt, or in the service of oligarchs. For some of us, all three. The road back to civilization seems remote and inaccessible. It is so tempting to just give up, let the kakistocracy have their way and celebrate the destruction of the Enlightenment.
Trauma can break you. Trauma can break the strongest of us. I don’t say lightly “Resist. We are stronger than they are.” Individually, we can get swept up by the fire hose, dragged under by the sheer volume of kaka being fired. But if we link arms, and raise our shields, we can turtle through this, one slow step forward at a time.
I believe in people. I believe we are stronger than any government, any political ideology, any false idolatry. I believe in you. I believe in your innate goodness. I believe in your strength and will and desire for justice. I believe.

This video helps explain why so many people are talking about the enormous political potential of Texas state representative James Talarico:

Financial Times has a breaking story today

“BP has made its biggest oil and gas discovery in 25 years after drilling a successful well in a field off the coast of Brazil, in a boost to the energy giant as it refocuses on fossil fuels.”

That means more oil to burn, just what the climate needed.

Profits come first, our future second.

A quick map of the #aftershocks of the M8.8 #Kamchatka #earthquake. Aftershocks within the plate (outer rise and deeper intraplate) appear to occur mostly near the large slip patch of the mainshock. More numerous small aftershocks near the epicenter of the mainshock (where the rupture started).

Let yourself be hypnotized by these #rotor #clouds. The wind blows over the #mountain ridge and the setting sun behind the ridge gives the background light. The #vortices are very coherent. This #timelapse compresses around 30 min. into 15 secs.

‘Self-termination is most likely’: the history and future of societal collapse - Book review

“[Kemp] also points out that for the citizens of early rapacious regimes, collapse often improved their lives because they were freed from domination and taxation and returned to farming.

“After the fall of Rome, people actually got taller and healthier,” he says.”
