Imagine being told that you have a disease requiring total rest and strictly limited activity to even hope for possible improvement.
Now imagine you only have 2 days worth of groceries, your rent is due next week, and you just got fired because you couldn’t get out of bed, much less make it to work.
How can we expect the millions with energy limiting illness to survive if our society isn’t willing to support them through their illness?

🤔 More questions that I don't know the answer to:

Is it possible to drive social change through Mastodon? Could "Black Lives Matter" have happened on Mastodon? Or do the "intentionally slow, pleasant conversation" features eliminate the possibility of this? Do the "interest silo" tendencies discourage cross pollination?

Or can we have our cake and eat it too? Will the addition of more journalists, more Black and brown folk, and higher total user count, cross some network effects threshold?

BREAKING: Senator Catherine Cortez Masto just got enough votes for MSNBC to project her as the winner of the US Senate Race in Nevada.

The Democrats Have Officially Retained Control of the US Senate!

Good news, folks. An anti-abortion and anti-trans agenda does not a Senate majority make.

People showed up for abortion justice.

People showed up to beat back the white supremacist Christian nationalism that has been encroaching, & because the legislature is our defense against a judiciary hellbent on stripping us of civil and human rights.

There’s no other story.

Ohh! Now I get it!

Joke took a bit to sink in Elon

My latest tweet just to have something on mastodon:

Tech employees should be unionizing, right now. Employees should never be asked to perform unethical tasks, regardless of whether it's within the terms of service or not.

@Tinu This is so important and so clearly explained.

I think it's also important to point out that if white people don't make space for all types of marginalised voices, *we* (white people) are the ones missing out. We just go on living in ignorance of what is really the majority, collectively, of human experience, knowledge, culture, history and everything else. I've never understood the appeal of this.

But here we are, Muskyman has created a situation of urgency, and this has to be dealt with. So...

1) If you are white, please shut up when #BIPOC folks talk about their experiences. Just fucking listen. Don't explain, or minimize, or ask for proof or examples. We are the ones who are targeted.

2) There definitely isn't a #BIPOC consensus about the use of CWs for #racism. If you are white, and don't want to see racism, do some self-examination. You are not the target.
