Super blursed switch. 10/100, but supports up to 55W PoE per port. There's a mechanical switch in the front to put each PoE port on a separate hard-coded VLAN. The power cord is built in. And it has a pair of uplink ports but no way to configure LACP.

Weird free item from Amazon Vine.

Italic is not the slant, it is the letter shape. True cursed font knowledge begins with CMU Serif Upright Italic.

Geology museums are neat because they're just an institutionalized version of "come check out this neat rock I found."

Operating a Certificate Transparency log is now within reach of many organizations.

I wrote up the requirements: essentially one small server process, a couple people, and the capacity to host 3-5 TB of static files. https://words.filippo.io/run-sunlight/

I'd love to chat with anyone who's considering running one!

You Should Run a Certificate Transparency Log

Maybe you, yes you, should run a Certificate Transparency log. It’s cheaper, easier, and more important than ever.

@mattg here is a photo of all three of our cats on a walk.
@dev the admin team woke me up early today to install the updates

I can't stress enough how close U.S. science is to the cliff.

"Numbers released in May by the National Science Foundation (NSF) indicate that if Congress approves the cuts to the agency proposed by the White House, the number of early-career researchers it supports could fall by 78%" (via https://www.science.org/content/article/it-s-nightmare-u-s-funding-cuts-threaten-academic-science-jobs-all-levels)

You know that meme about the ridiculous names of business productivity software? This is an actual notification I received at work this morning:

We’re excited to announce that Mastodon 4.4 is now generally available as an upgrade for all Mastodon servers. The update brings improvements to profiles, navigation, list management, media controls, server moderation notes, and more.

This is why we told the limeys to go fuck themselves at the point of a gun.

Any of it look familiar?
#NoKings

@LeftistLawyer No presidents either, we have much better forms of democracy now. It's long past time for a revolution.

@anolandria @LeftistLawyer As a monarchist in Canada, may I make a suggestion?

Whatever position you replace with the President, maybe just don't give them effectively the same amount of power as an American Revolutionary British Monarch?

@LeftistLawyer

We could also add the most important; transfer of wealth from the people to a wealthy elite.

This has been happening in the US since 1970s and will peak 2030s?

It led to social collapse then and it could again, if not reversed?

But how to inform Trump supporters?

Right now they don't care; some have much to gain, others, nothing to lose.

@LeftistLawyer This limey has always celebrated the 4th July as the day we got rid of America. None more so than this year. F knows the UK is dreadful but the US is now far far worse. I know that there are millions of decent Americans, however your fellows elected Trump. Say no more.
When Obama was elected I was relieved and pleased and then you went for Trump not once but twice. He's a crook. He's destroying the planet so he and his mates get richer. His inhumane treatment of others appalls.

@LeftistLawyer

you forgot the unspoken one:

If the King accedes to our demands we will lose the right to import and own slaves.

@Thebratdragon @LeftistLawyer
Oh yeah, and also they wouldn't have to stick to all those pesky treaties with Native Americans.
@Thebratdragon
And the part about "merciless Indian savages"
@LeftistLawyer
@LeftistLawyer @Cdespinosa Also, making us pay taxes on stuff.
@LeftistLawyer In case you were not aware, that last seed point was about encouraging uprisings and revolts by enslaved people. Which the British did do.
@starluna @LeftistLawyer Whole history of superpowers has been treating underclasses of the people they rule over like shit leaving a gaping vulnerability for other superpowers to exploit by inciting them, then complaining about it and calling the uprisings inauthentic foreign ops, rather than just fixing the gaping exploit vector.
