Well, this brought back a bunch of memories from my youth, when it felt perfectly natural that what you should want from a computer is the ability to design your own calculator interface.

So, we have a public nginx RCE with demo exploit + a new public Linux LPE with demo exploit, for both of which the patch is less than a day old. So there is a public 0day chain to get root on 50% or so of the internet via a simple HTTP request. Oooooof.
Just referred to feeling cautiously optimistic as "microdosing hope," in case you're wondering how it's going.

There's a new name for a hormonal condition affecting 1 in 8 women worldwide

A hormonal condition affecting 1 in 8 women around the world just got a new name in hopes of improving care. It’s now called polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome instead of polycystic ovary syndrome. The name change was made after 14 years of collaboration between experts and patients. Researchers published the change in The Lancet on Tuesday. Supporters of the change said the old name, often shortened to PCOS, is inaccurate. It reduced a complex hormonal or endocrine disorder to a misunderstanding about cysts and a focus on ovaries, they said, contributing to missed diagnoses and inadequate treatment.

@irene @ricci Jing is from:
- a sparsely populated mountainous province
- that is home to a religious minority
- and is the subject of a popular reality tv show

.. so I think she’ll fit in quite well in Utah!

@ricci awesome! Congrats to Jing and all of you!
I'm super excited that Jing Liu (https://jingliu.xyz/) has accepted our offer to join the Kahlert School of Computing at the University of Utah! The caliber of people I get to work with here - in all kinds of areas, but in computing systems research in particular - is just incredible.

@Taweret once upon a time, I found myself standing in line for elotes at a food truck while some woman explained to her kid that mayonnaise on corn sounded gross, and I told her that as white Americans, I don’t think we’re in a position to judge anyone else’s use of mayonnaise.

I now see that extends to the British too.

@IrrationalMethod oh god, that’s how we used to describe our lab retreats
