I picked up a turntable at a rummage sale yesterday. Listening to my old vinyl for the first time in 25 years. Sounds great!
@jerzone Yeah, I do my routing on the web versions of Strava or RideWithGOS and then download the GPX file into an offline map app like CalTopo or Organic Maps. Sometimes I'll download and overlay multiple routes if there are options I want to remember. For on-the-fly routing I use the offline map. I rarely have cell when I'm riding.
@drdirtbag Good to know. Thanks!
@pete Mass start is so much better than racing against the clock, and POV on gnarly singletrack is mesmerizing. Combination makes for a fun vid. Thanks!
@drdirtbag Do you worry about DEET melting your gear? I got paranoid about that and started using Picardin this year. Seems to work but requires a more generous slathering.
@ResonantFrame @bergmeister We had Oku Japan book the inns and followed their route. https://www.okujapan.com/region/kumano-kodo/

@mikeolson Where does making ice cream with liquid nitrogen fit in?
@ascentale @artemesia @bikenite A6. One should ask before drafting a stranger. A simple, "Mind if I draft you?" suffices. Also, if you are able, you should offer to take a pull after a bit. It's okay if you are not able to pull very long. #BikeNite
@mikeolson Thanks! I'm not yet convinced 36" wheels are in my future, but 32" wheels probably are. Various rim, tire & frame companies have been teasing them this year. I'm trying to avoid too much custom, non-standard stuff in my bikes these days, for parts availability and resale/gifting reasons. For someone my height though, both of these wheel sizes look normal. My bikes, with saddles and bars way high, always look like they have tiny wheels!
@drdirtbag Ha! Food was in the two 4L rear panniers. Sleep kit (quilt, pad, bivvy, tarp, pillow) in 13L dry bag on rack. Clothing, kitchen, etc. in two 6L front panniers. Never used the tarp, puffy jacket or raincoat, but better to be prepared!
