Loved this quote about TFG’s isolationist “policy” from a Wonkette article. https://www.wonkette.com/p/new-york-times-calls-a-fascist-a
New York Times Calls A Fascist A Fascist. Sort Of.

Slightly less shitty job than usual, NYT!

Somewhere here in the Fediverse I learned about (and now adore) nitter.net—a Twitter viewing website that doesn’t give E Musk your eyeballs or $ (shhh, don’t tell him). You can paste into the search bar a username, keyword, or even a Twitter hyperlink. I love it for news stories that include #Twitter #birdsite content, since I never want to go directly but occasionally am missing some “plot”. Here’s an example: https://nitter.net/search?f=tweets&q=%40Lastweektonight&since=&until=&near=

Home science experiment: Does “Efferdent” (fizzy denture cleaner tablet) really clean my nighttime retainer or just a gimmick? I decided that since it was safe for cleaning my Invisalign retainer, I could try using it to clean my stained teacups (that don’t come clean in the dishwasher and have been bugging me). And result (see pix) is “yes, I guess I will def keep soaking my retainers”. And wow—amazing job. Might try again sometime with the generic drugstore brand. #tea #lifehack #retainers
Wondered why one of my crow krewe was walking around with his beak open. So I googled it: “Birds sit with their mouth open simply to cool down. Unlike humans, birds cannot sweat, so like dogs, they'll pant with their mouths open to promote heat loss. The technical term for this is 'gular fluttering' - which is the avian version of panting. The panting may also increase in speed, or the birds may open their mouths even wider to achieve greater cooling levels.” #crows From https://birdfact.com/articles/birds-with-their-beaks-open
