Arsène Wenger's idea of Daylight Offside is back in the media and false expectations and false facts are circulating again.

➡️ Daylight Offside - like "same level" or "thicker calibrated lines" - only shifts the point of discussion about marginal offside a few millimetres towards the goal.

More about it and more in my Offside Rule FAQ: https://nachspielzeiten.de/offside-explained

@histodons Can anyone tell me who is portrayed in this painting? It is most likely from the 17th century, but unfortunately I don‘t have any further information.
I just got ennobled on Reddit. 😅
This is the painting in question after veronese, in which God is now resplendent with a full head of hair.

This user has just booked flight tickets for a weekend in #MidsomerCounty. The trip will be my birthday present to myself. Finally, after 19 years, good British food again. And if not to Yorkshire, at least to the second best county.

@histodons, I‘d be glad for follower recommendations from the field of historical and cultural studies, especially on:

- English/German romanticism
- British on the Middle Rhine in the 19th century (not only writers, or painters, but also holidaymakers, traders, and so on)
- Football history, especially about the rules of football, and how the British brought football to Germany

- And other fans of Midsomer Murders, and BlackAdder I would like to follow as well as other singers

Happy! The opening was a great success and the reactions were all positive.

Hildegard von Bingen's Rupertsberg monastery with the monastery arcades is open to the public again after 220 years - and my new office in the city archive.

Alice in Wonderland was written in 1865 by Lewis Carroll. Among the readers was the English artist George Dunlop Leslie, and inspired by the book, he made this wonderful, expressive painting 14 years later.
And named it: Alice in Wonderland.

I guess, Walt Disney knew it as his Alice wears the same clothes.
