This morning I'm at the 12bell eliminator at St Margarets Leicester. I'm not taking part in the actual competition, but was in the band for the test ring - essentially the sound check for the judges to make sure they can hear the bells well. The first team is currently ringing their practice piece. Not much business at the bar yet!

Excellent quarter peal tonight at Whitwick. A replay of the method we attempted last week but didn't get - Mark and I have finally rung January's method of the month! Some really steady ringing.

One thing I really like about #bellringing is the chance to visit parts of churches the general public doesn't usually get to see. Access to the ringing room at Southwell is up a spiral staircase, across a walkway in the south transept, and then up another spiral staircase. Nice bells, the only ring of 12 bells where the ropes hang in anticlockwise order. It takes a while to get used to looking in the other direction.

Four images taken tonight at the University Bellringing practice. Went along to get some photos and video for the newsletter and website, so thought I may as well indulge in some photography for myself as well.
For non-ringers, the bells upset sign doesn't mean someone has been mean to them! Its a warning sign that the bells are in the up position, resting with the mouth of the bell facing upwards, and it is therefore dangerous to pull on the ropes unless you know what you're doing.
