Sometimes I feel like I should write a long, really grognard-y series of posts about all the misunderstandings, misinformation, and just plain stupid, ill-conceiven nonsense out there about #acupuncture , but then I remember that the truth about all those things is even harder to believe and accept… still, it annoys me.

#reading “Story” by David McKee. A quote:

“Story isn’t a flight from reality but a vehicle that carries us on our search for reality, our best effort to make sense out of the anarchy of existence.”

Let's be honest. Most of us in the hobby buy games that we play once or twice or in rare cases, three or four times. So in this article, I want to look at this a bit further.

Single-Use Games - the board game hobby's throw-away attitude (Topic Discussion) - Tabletop Games Blog

Let's be honest. Most of us in the hobby buy games that we play once or twice or in rare cases, three or four times. In fact, the term "shelf of shame" is a thing, describing games that people have bought but not yet played. The thing is, these games sit there unplayed for months on end and may never see the welcome sight of a table, let alone a board game table. So in this article, I want to look at this a bit further and investigate why we don't play the same games more than a handful of times.

@tabletopgamesblog thank you for this article! I am in almost the same place you describe — trying to reduce my collection to what I want to and am reasonably able to play, and trying very hard to resist the urge of shiny when it comes to new games. I am an admitted collector and completist, tho, so it is *hard*…

I am curious what are your nostalgia games? Mine are Settlers of Catan and RoboRally 1st ed… highly unlikely they’ll ever get played again, but oh, the memories…

@m0rt true! i didn’t even know you were going to be there! I would’ve tried to get into your game…
@m0rt hey Bruce! Great to catch a glimpse of you at #Dragonmeet ! I also migrated to Mastodon in search of something better. It’s good to see you here. 😄🫱🏻‍🫲🏽
After almost three months, the #Aquarium is finally looking good… pristine water, lush #AquariumPlants and happy fish!

Finally set up my #Aquarium , which is now on its second week! Really excited to be getting back into this hobby again after 25 years! Things have changed so much!

A beautiful place with beautiful views over the Sound of Sleat towards the mainland: Aird of Sleat can be found near the southern tip of the Isle of Skye. Mallaig and the mountains of Knoydart can be seen in the background. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/skye/airdofsleat/index.html
