Opinions are mine. 😉

Today's instalment of my Back to Basics series is about slicing strings in #Python. My article covers slicing from the start, from a different index, partially slicing, using negative indexing, etc.

Grab a coffee or a tea; there's a slice for everyone.

In my latest blog article, I wrote a short intro to #Python #Pandas #loc and #iloc. We studied them in our 2nd week of the Cambridge Spark Lvl 4 Data Analytics bootcamp. 'loc' and 'iloc' are power methods for filtering data in Pandas.

Apart from a lame pun using 'loc' and 'key', I couldn't help myself, the article summarises my initial understanding of how to use filtering methods in Pandas and will serve me well as a starting point for further exploration.

I had honestly never thought about shipping Standard with Rails, but now that you mention it… https://github.com/rails/rails/issues/50456

Add (a very basic!!) Rubocop by default · Issue #50456 · rails/rails

I've finally relented on Rubocop, granted that the style enforcement is kept incredibly light. This could be the mother of all bikesheds, so I intend to reduce the style enforcement on by personal,...

Where do you buy your domain names from? 🤔🤔

Any suggestions of places with good support in the UK?

Cheers

The GOP has introduced a bill to EXPEL Palestinians from the United States. I cannot read such things without remembering what happened to my own family after Pearl Harbor. After we and 120,000 other Japanese Americans were incarcerated in prison camps for years, without charge or trial, my own mother was very nearly expelled to Japan because of racial prejudice and hatred. Only the brave actions of a civil rights attorney saved her from being sent away. #NeverAgain

A thousand times this!!! 👆

Another point of interest is the size of their backlog. Some companies expect us to clear the backlog while dealing with new requests, and many times with no additional help. The bottom line is, we may end up with no time for doing either properly.

And if the job description includes "dealing with other 'minor' admin jobs", run for your life. You will be answering phone calls most of the day.
