I've started compiling a comprehensive list of all the progressives looking for city council nominations in Vancouver. It's already a long list and I'm sure I'm missing a few.

Hello Mastodon!

I’m Avi Lewis and I’m running to be the next leader of the federal NDP. Very excited to be part of the Fediverse!

I’m running for NDP leader because it’s time for the NDP to return to its roots—fighting a system rigged for the rich that leaves the rest of us behind.

We can build a Canada based on care instead of greed, but only if we do it together. There are only 4 days left to join the NDP so you can vote in the leadership race, so get your membership before Jan 28th and let’s fight for a government that serves the many, not the money.

I think I figured out who to vote for on April 5 in the Vancouver by-election. The first choice was easy - Lucy Maloney. The second was a bit harder to figure out. #vanpoli

It takes a lot to shake me but this abduction of Rumeysa Ozturk, a Ph.D. student and Fulbright scholar at Tufts is bone-chilling.

Plainclothes, masked agents bundle her into an unmarked car.

It appears her thought crime was co-authoring op-ed in the Tufts newspaper, asking the university to take action in opposition to Israeli war crimes.

She's been whisked off from Massachusetts to Louisiana.

This is the new America.

This session introduces you to practical things you can do to prepare such as making your home safer, gathering supplies, and connecting with your neighbours. To join this Zoom event you will need a computer, tablet or phone with internet access. It is ideal to have a webcam and microphone, though this is not essential. A link and password to join the Zoom session will be sent by email ahead of the program. Presented in partnership with the Vancouver Emergency Management Agency (VEMA).

In light of everything happening, I wrote about how the KKK in the 1920s felt unstoppable, about the people that fought against them anyway, and about how fascism always fails. https://dansinker.com/posts/2025-02-23-dale/

We're being nudged to eat meat. What if the tables were turned? | CBC News

Restaurants, events and even hospitals generally offer meat as the default meal option. What if they nudged us to make healthier choices for our bodies and the planet instead? Some hospitals, universities and other groups are doing just that.
