Married, Christian, musician (keys and vocals), computer nerd, avid bookworm, social butterfly, outgoing, friendly, are all words that describe me.

Adults: Behave!

Me: Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrive home after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladdin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with 7 men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac Man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies that always had the munchies. The fault is not mine!

I've found two very old IDE spinner drives here and I think they contain data I'd like to get at. Hooking them up, motors spin, but in both cases there's just an initial click from the heads, then nothing else. They don't appear as drives in Explorer or Disk Management. I'm thinking the heads are stuck.

Do I know anyone who's successfully rescued data in this situation before? If so, please share tips/advice. Really only interested in firsthand knowledge this time. Thanks.

Who wants the story of Cinderella, told from a slightly different angle? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eip-u1v3bag
Steam just added screen reader support in the latest Big Picture Mode beta. On the Deck. On SteamOS. On Linux.
Not hacked in. Not community-patched. Built-in. From Valve.
There's an accessibility tab. There's a screen reader. There's high-contrast mode, UI scaling, color filters, reduced motion, and more.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but: I need a Steam Deck now.
Accessibility isn’t just coming to gaming — it’s here, and it’s official.
Let’s make some noise so they keep going.

* In NVDA 2025.1 and higher, speech history items can be viewed and copied in a browse mode window. The default keystroke for this function is NVDA+H.

Four guys meet in hell. A Bodybuilder, a Muslim, a Buddhist monk, and an American.
Satan comes over, whip in hand, and says, "Those who endure 10 whiplashes can go to Heaven, the rest will stay here in Hell!"

The American glances at the bodybuilder and is about to argue when Satan interrupts him, "Everyone can choose 1 thing to place at your back and protect you from the whiplashes. Let's start."

The bodybuilder steps up, with full conviction, he chooses a large and heavy metal shield to protect his back. Then, Satan starts with the whiplashes,

1...2... And the shield breaks apart. The 3rd never came, the bodybuilder screamed "Please NO, I give up!"

The Muslim steps forward this time. With a smug face, he asks for the physical manifestation of his faith to protect his back. He had done lots of terrible things, but it was all in the name of faith and it would protect him now.

1...2...3...and his faith began to waver...4...5...6... And the sound of something breaking could be heard. Before there was a 7th, he cries out, "Stop, stop, stop. Please stop!!"

Here comes the Buddhist monk's turn. He asks for no protection, for pain is in the mind, he will hide behind nothing, and his body would endure any torment!

1...2...3... And he grits his teeth...4...5...6... Tears could be seen in his eyes...7...8...9...10... There is snot coming out of his nose and his back is badly mutilated. But he made it.

Now it's the American's turn. He is asked, by Satan, what does he choose to protect his back. The American ponders for a little while, and then calmly says,

"The monk."

For the past five days, we've had to go to the bomb shelter several times a day to protect ourselves from Iranian missiles. This morning, they sent 20 missiles closer to our apartment than any of the previous attacks. One of the Missiles landed in the next town and created a great big hole.

This is what it sounded like from our kitchen window.

The recording Starts with the air raid sirens, and then just before they finish at about 90 seconds, you start to hear the interceptions.

Hi everyone, two small bits of news from us today:

1) Hot on the heels of yesterday's 2025.1 release, there's a minor point release - NVDA 2025.1.1 to fix an issue which affected some users (updates for both those on stable, and those on RC / Beta branches): https://www.nvaccess.org/post/nvda-2025-1-1/

2) We've re-enabled taking NVDA Certified Expert exams (we froze them while we were having those site issues): https://certification.nvaccess.org/
