Jennell Jaquays, #trans icon, #LGBTQA activist, legendary level designer, and probably the most influential #TTRPG creator, writer and illustrator many have never heard of (or enough of) passed away.

Her work in early #DnD with Dark Tower and Caverns of Thracia, and level design in the Quake series is so influential it is still felt today in the way we design maps, adventures, and scenarios, and how big AAA studios like FromSoftware craft their environments.

A legend through and through.

RIP

"20 years ago we were suing teenagers for millions of dollars because they were torrenting a single Metallica album and now billionaires are demanding the free right to every work in history, so that they can re-sell it.
The law only ever serves capital."
Very impressed by Project Bayern. It compares to Chaosium's epic Call of Cthulhu campaign boxes, but it's closer to Arthur C. Clarke or Becky Chambers than H.P. Lovecraft. Lots of material for exploratory science fiction. #traveller #travellertuesday #ttrpg https://www.mongoosepublishing.com/products/project-bayern

Captaincy Video Three: The Sail Phase

This video shows the entire Sail Phase, with all its steps. We've now covered about 70% of what happens in a typical game. I encourage you to print out your own version of the ship tableaux, as explained in the notes for Captaincy Video Two.

I think a simple change in nomenclature could help Mastodon incredibly. Servers is an inaccurate term and instance is unfamiliar and vague. Both create tension for new users.
Why not simply call Mastodon instances what they are: Communities.
Ask users which Mastodon community they'd like to join. Have community rules, community policy, and community leaders. Not server rules, instance moderators and administrators.

Let me start. Everyone is welcome at our community, https://thecanadian.social

I‘ve just remembered: Mastodon exists and I‘m on it!
Perfect timing as well, as I‘ve made something I thought I could share. I‘ve started making a Catan board for myself and here‘s what I‘ve got so far.

The tiles are made from pine plywood, cut out by hand, and then painted with acrylic paint.
