Vintage Apple user / collector and Sysop of Captain's Quarters I & II BBS (http://cqbbs.ddns.net ports 6502 & 6800), running on an Apple IIgs and Mac Mini. I search the internet daily for vintage Apple News for my BBS's.

Also a former BMX racer turned mountain biker, retro gamer, hack programmer, and owner of a dog that looks like a wolf! (My interests have changed very little since I was a teen...)

Announcing my third #MARCHintosh 2026 project - the MARCHintosh Canvas!

If you're familiar with Reddit's /r/place, pxls space, or Wplace, you’ll know what this is - a shared canvas anyone can place pixels onto in real-time.

Only this time, it's over the venerable AppleTalk protocol, with the public server accessible to anyone on #GlobalTalk :)

Feel free to drop by and leave your mark - available in the usual places (landisk, Blackbird) on BaroNet

We're halfway through #MARCHintosh already! 😢 Have you called your local #GlobalTalk BBS yet? It's a breeze to set up and get on via AppleTalk - full details here:

Released Flynn 1.9.4 today, a new Telnet client for 68k Macs. Includes many new features - 256 color, multi-session, ANSI-BBS terminal, additional emojii/glyphs, and many many bug fixes.

I've spent a lot if time testing and doing QA and it works well. Goal for next release is to improve drawing, latency and performance on my Macintosh Plus.

If you try it out and have any feedback or bug reports, please let me know.

Disk images are up on Github and Macintosh Garden.

TalkCrawler 1.1 is out. It adds search and you can click in the margin to add notes to an entry. Search will also search the notes so it’s handy for putting usernames/socials or something in if you like me easily forget who is what zone.

(Notes are limited to 255 chars so your draft of a love letter will not fit)

@byteknight After getting 256 color working, I managed to get ANSI CP437 in as well and it looks good. Still need to do some cleanup, but the next release on github (https://github.com/ecliptik/flynn) will have support.
Word's getting out about my #MARCHintosh project - look who signed on to the BBS! I'd better get rid of those ASCII nudes in the G-Files section... 😂

It's #MARCHintosh, so I decided to post an update on my interactive fiction #HyperCard project.

Because I always have multiple projects in development, progress has been slow but steady—including the user interface, text parser, and other foundational under-the-hood development. The proof-of-concept UI is attached!

Please help with this project by offering your feedback, suggestions, and support:

My new Lock Screen and Home Screen - appropriate for #MARCHintosh!

Here's my second #MARCHintosh project for 2026 - TalkCrawler Lite! A little program to keep track of which #GlobalTalk printers and shares you've visited or left a greeting on!

I rushed this one out so I can get to using it, so it's less polished than Chat, and might not work so hot on 68k Macs. I'm not sure why opening files is so damn slow.

Demo video in the first reply. Available on Blackbird or landisk on the BaroNet share.

Instead of turning a clock into a vintage Mac, I turned a vintage Mac into a clock!, I though it would be fun given its #MARCHintosh The program can be downloaded here: https://github.com/retrotheory/BigMaclock

It supports US/EU month day order AM/PM, Invert display, 'grey' background and alarm function, it also has dynamic sizing so it will look correct on bigger screens
