Oh also final point, I promise! My Grandad understood something that I think is a big part of my own philosophy too: that people are made up of two things - atoms and stories. When your atoms break down, what's left is stories.

My Grandad wrote his memoirs and sent them to all his grandchildren. We'll pass them down to the next generation, and that way everyone gets to hear about his amazing life and his love for Granny.

Tell your stories. They're precious.

I'm looking forward to fifteen years from now, when Easter Sunday falls on Thursday January 1, 1970.

The difference between Scott Adams and Charles Schulz :

β€œI believe that our greatest strength lies always in the protection of our smallest minorities.”

I don’t know how to explain it, but time works differently in airports. 5 minutes and 5 hours are somehow the same. Your flight is delayed but arrives early. The carpets are from 1980. The water machines are from 2045. It is always happy hour. You have always been in the airport.

In anticipation of MLK day, it's good to start with a rereading of Letter from a Birmingham Jail.

The section on "white moderates" is particularly instructive.

The Bay Lights are one of my favorite art installations in the world. After 10 years, the lights are coming down due to need of repair.

I don’t live in San Francisco any more, but I just donated to the #TheBayLights360 project to illuminate both sides of the bridge with more durable lights.

Watched The Menu tonight (now on HBO). What an absolutely fucked up movie, in the best possible way. A parody of foodie culture, but taken to such a dark extreme. Loved it!
Our home internet goes out sometimes when it rains real bad, like today. Reminds me ~15 years ago when our startup's "network guy" used to listen to Pandora to quickly detect when the network would cut out. (Then I remember we used to call it "internet radio"...)
Violent Night is such a fun and funny movie. It's half slasher movie, half slapstick comedy. If you liked all the booby traps in Home Alone, you'd love this movie.
Beetlejuice was one of the most entertaining musicals I've ever seen! So silly, campy, funny!
