But it’s not so great when it’s being used to harass someone who is marginalized for speaking their voice.
@Rachel_Thorn true, my comment was more about the article in general rather than your statement about it. It felt like some of what was written there was very alarmist about mastodon being overrun by nazis or whatever, which doesn’t really seem likely to me as long as fediblocking is a thing.
@Rachel_Thorn maybe this is just me, but this really doesn’t seem like as terrifying as it looks on the surface? I haven’t been super active on mastodon but I get the impression that if a majority of instances fediblock gab, there isn’t really much damage they can do beyond what they already were doing. The concern about mobile apps is definitely very legitimate, but even so Gab’s reach is still not much bigger than it was before, it seems. Please correct me if I’m missing something.
Emelia 👸🏻@atomicpoet @kainoa I was just today talking about having like an "admin onboarding" and like "instance health" check, which would give insights into stuff like how quickly you're growing vs moderation reports, and avg/stddev time to resolve moderation reports, and like setting user number thresholds to suggest actions that might be wise, based on experiences of other admins.
