Dumpster fire.

The United app’s dynamic island and Lock Screen support is actually pretty impressive.

The dynamic island shows you your gate and gives you a running countdown to your boarding time.

@TexasObserver With moves like this, Greg Abbot must know he’s the villain, right?

“You’re left to languish in the waiting room not knowing if you’re going to walk out alive. No one is paying attention. Nobody’s coming to check on you.”

We'd also like to highlight @sarahutch's report on Greg Abbott's pointless cruelty against sickle cell disease sufferers, (mostly #Black people). The governor vetoed a bill which would have aided lifesaving treatment: https://www.texasobserver.org/sickle-cell-registry-bill-veto-abbott/

Abbott Torpedoes Sickle-Cell Legislation on Juneteenth Weekend

Democratic State Representative Jarvis Johnson called the governor's veto of the Sickle Cell bill "petty, bullshit politics."

So excited for the next level of this SCOTUS ruling. Perhaps when you’re dying on an ER bed, the only doctor capable of saving you who happens to be gay can refuse treatment because his religion of gayology forbids him from operating on Republicans?

Another one bites the dust.

I used Reddit a lot, but I don’t think I ever loved it quite as much as others did. Still, it was a great platform for discussion and information sharing for many years. We’re going to feel this for a bit, and who knows what will rise up to replace it. May be a while.

Like Twitter let this be another lesson that if it’s not a portable platform and/or open source software, it’s only a matter of time before it’s gone or steered in an unusable direction.

RIP

@rfbarraza the problem now though is that at least in many places, you basically need that golden-handcuffs-level compensation to even have a decent house and lifestyle.

That’s basically the Bay in a nutshell. Nobody /wants/ to work+commute 60+ hours a week. But your alternative is go work remote in a cheap red state. Which honestly is better in almost every way except (1) remote is isolating and (2) oh yeah, your rights might get taken away.

@rfbarraza oh I totally agree.

I think a lot of companies are lucky because the industry lacks so much competition for talent right now because of the economy. In a world where people feel they can leave and go elsewhere there are serious retention issues here.

@rfbarraza exactly. And look, if you wanna pay me C-suite salaries so I can get that $5m house in Los Altos Hills with hired help and a 10 min commute, then I’m happy to be in the office 5 days a week. Just saying.
