Fortunately, my colleagues recently developed something to make it less painful: https://besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/2041-210X.14212

Dear colleagues, shit is getting real with #WissZeitVG in the parlament very soon. Please sign this petition started by unions and employees' initiatives to stop this madness #IchBinHanna

After 2 full weeks of conference madness I'm treating myself with some vacation and evolutionary sci-fi for #PostdocAppreciationWeek

Conference season 3/3. I'm not presenting, but would be happy to meet old and new colleagues to chat about functional responses & population dynamics, both modeling & model fitting. #gfoe23 #gfoe2023

Bonus: will reveal secret microbreweries locations on demand.

We're a bit late to the party, but @idiv postdocs and phds have published a statement on the highly precarious working conditions in German academia.

Additionally, we are facing 2 problems: 1. the gouvernment's plans to even worsen these conditions, 2. the change in our institute's funding structure 2024. This currently leaves us in the dark about future contracts and employability. #IchBinHanna

Conference season 2/3 #ECEM2023 @ufz. Excited about Friday's session on functional responses. I'm presenting on multi-prey feeding experiments, and watch out for Jingyi Li's talk on integrating sensory information in FR models!

My recent #preprint (https://biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2023.01.27.525839v3) has been #recommended by @PeerCommunityIn Ecology 🥳🥳🥳

Doing a single-author study was challenging but also a very interesting experience.
Thanks a lot to the recommender and reviewers! #OpenScience #PeerReview

Here the latest news on the Journal of Biogeography editorial work stoppage and mass resignations, from Twitter/X:

I along with 95% of #AssociateEditors have now #Resigned from @jbiogeography. @WileyGlobal never responded to our invitation to discuss #BetterPublishing.

Very sad to see this outcome of a once highly respected journal. But hope we all learned a lesson from this and stop submitting to such journals.
