«DOGE has provided a template for complete political and cultural rollback, exploiting AI's brittle affordances to trash any pretence at social contract. What the so-called educational offers from AI companies are actually doing is a form of cyberattack, building in the pathways for the hacker tactic of 'privilege escalation' to be used by future threat actors, especially those from a hostile administration.»

The role of the University is to resist AI

Today we’re quietly (and finally!) opening up Railfinder to the public! This is our beta version and - hopefully - the first step towards that one booking site for trains across Europe that we all dream of.

Lots of work has gone into this and equally lots still to do before reach that vision, but if you’d like to try what we’be built you can now just go to https://www.railfinder.eu and have a go!

Any and all feedback more than welcome 🙏

Things I would like every young web engineer to learn:

- anything you can do in CSS + HTML, you *should* do in CSS + HTML
- *framework du jour* is not a platform, it's a high-interest loan against your future capacity. The platform is the platform
- understanding the memory hierarchy *always* matters
- client-side isn't easier than the server, and "generalists" usually suck at client-side. Mind the (packet) gap
- managers who are not technical are not useful
- put users first, always

I can't get over this sentence no matter how often I read it.

"Women showed no effects when told they were masculine; however, men given feedback suggesting they were feminine expressed more support for war, homophobic attitudes, and interest in purchasing an SUV."

@jeffowski Thanks, always good to know where info is coming from so I don't just agree because it "feels right".
