I recently rebuilt my #Linux #gaming rig to be full #AMD and for the most part I am absolutely loving it. Not having to worry about an update just breaking my graphics is so so nice, and the gaming support for it is also really nice (specifically shader-cache time on steam went way down).

But man is
#Blender support frustratingly bad... Using the HIP renderer for cycles works for the most part, but will almost always crash blender at some point. That plus numerous issues with #greasepencil lagging and crashing when working with strokes, or antialiasing being severely broken.

It's so bad that for my last render I did, I needed to render the animation on my laptop that uses Intel Integrated Graphics
😭 It makes me miss my CUDA cores lol.
I picked #Blender back up again this week. I made this grave site using #greasepencil

Im super happy with how it turned out!

In case it isn't glaringly obvious, the next frontier in protecting our data is denying services that want to use us to train ML models. And no adblocker is going to do the job. Someone's gonna have to read every ToS, Privacy Statement, and EULA to find out who's doing what.
Big chillin

One other thing is that developers are rightly mad at Unity.

However, all gamers should also be *extremely* mad at Unity because the only way they can enforce their proposed license is carefully tracking user behavior in a deeply invasive way.

"Whoa there" yourself, Adobe. I am mildly annoyed by the phrasing that makes it look like it's my fault that a corporation can't be bothered to develop for Firefox.

Several years in the making, GitLab is now very actively implementing #ActivityPub! 🙌

https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-/epics/11247

The end-goal is to support AP for merge requests (aka pull requests), meaning git.alice.dev can send a merge request to gitlab.com/Bob/project.git

First bite-sized todo on the implementation path there is ‘subscribe to project releases’.

Smart move by #GitLab; through ActivityPub they’re getting a distributed version of GitHub’s social layer.

Why does mobile performance on #firefish seem to be so much worse than a full browser? 😥

Using The PWA on my phone with data is unusably laggy, and images just seem to refuse to load. But performance on my laptop seems a-okay.
I got an e-reader last week and have been #reading the #overlord light novels. This is the msot I have read in a long time and I am really enjoying myself!

Its crazy how easy it is to pickup my small reader and just churn out some reading with the lights off before bed.
Do you prefer to perform overt, immediate evil, or slow, indirect evil? 🤔
