Wes Streeting’s limited vision

Wes Streeting has written an article for The Guardian on his vision for the NHS, which will come out today. Cut out his self-defence and the padding, and two paragraphs appear to relate to his actual plan. They say: Today, the prime minister will launch our 10-year plan for health, to radically...

Really looking forward to his Stella St. Al Pacino. That should gee up the ladies no end. 😝

Hail Mary PR.
1. Pull down all the neighbourhood hospitals & run local health centres into the ground.
2. Sell off land for luxury flats.
3. Create vast, inefficient super hospitals.
4. Excitedly announce 1-3 are reversible.
5. Ooo Look, an AI squirrel ! 👉 🤖

“Our 10-year health plan will fundamentally rewire and future-proof our NHS so that it puts care on people’s doorsteps, harnesses game-changing tech and prevents illness in the first place,”

My hospital IS on my doorstep. Frankly, I’d forgo the convenience anyway, if it meant not having to wait 4 months to get my mum’s pacemaker fitted.

They win a prize for most bullshit PR buzzwords in a statement.

I lost the will to live at that moment. I *could* have waxed lyrical about the utter lunacy of its investor’s march to enshittify every aspect of our lives, but realised that’s how this defeats us:
With a whimper, not a scream.

I play tennis with a developer from Rockstar Games. He’s a nice dude, and I asked him if he’d been affected by the massive layoff from Microsoft.
“We are safe, because they love what we are developing”.

I made a funny about him putting ‘Ai’ in the title to keep them interested, and he went on a rant about people not understanding AI’s usefulness.

He said they’d been using it to generate placeholders dialogue for game dialogue for years, so why are people losing their shit about it, now?

Chatting with a lovely lady who walked back into the home with her carer after a visit to the shops.

We had a lively chat, and she said:
“I dont know where I’ve been, I’m a bit demented”
“Aren’t we all” I said
“You’re just better at it than we are”.

She loved that.
