I made this example with GPT-4o, having it render Aldo Leopold's "Axe in Hand" from "A Sand County Almanac" as a comic strip. The model used a newer autoregressive model vs the diffusion models largely used previously. I think the difference is notable. What do you think? Imagine forest research presented this way as a means of scientific outreach!

"Managers and leaders will need to update their beliefs for what AI can do," Ethan Mollick says. "Rather than assuming they can only do low-level work, we will need to consider the ways in which AI can serve as a genuine intellectual partner. These models can now tackle complex analytical tasks, creative work, and even research-level problems with surprising sophistication." #GenAI https://www.oneusefulthing.org/p/a-new-generation-of-ais-claude-37

Tiny Mastodon Tip About Algorithm

How to build your own social media "algorithm" on Mastodon recipe:

1. Follow hashtags for topics that interest you! Here's how: https://infosec.exchange/@Em0nM4stodon/110493675813951054 #️⃣

2. Remove the topics you do not want to read about (including hashtags) using Filters. Here's how: https://infosec.exchange/@Em0nM4stodon/109323462169819778

3. Create Lists for the people you want to make sure not to miss a post from. How? From the web interface, simply click on "Lists" in the right side menu, add a new List, and on people's profiles click on the 3-dot "Menu" to "Add or Remove from lists." Some mobile apps like Mona will allow you to create shortcuts to access your Lists

4. Boost others' posts to be a nice curation algorithm for your friends!

Enjoy human-made algorithm!

Tiny Mastodon Newbie Tip 🐘✨: If you want to follow a specific topic in your Home timeline, know that on Mastodon you can follow hashtags! :awesome: HOW TO ❓ 1. On desktop browser (this will vary for mobile apps), type the topic you are looking for in the upper left “Search” field without space (ex: StarTrek) 🔍 2. In the “Search results” select the tab “Hashtags” #️⃣ 3. Click on the hashtag closest to what you are looking for 🖖 4. At the top right of the hashtag feed, click on the “Follow hashtag” button. 5. You will now see posts using this hashtag within your Home timeline (repeat this operation to unfollow a hashtag) 👀 6. Magic! ✨ #TinyMastodonTip #Mastodon

I wanted to try a little experiment creating an AI generated podcast about a paper I coauthored on a new way of looking at pitch pine density, for people that may not have a technical background in conservation or forestry. The podcast linked below is entirely AI generated using the paper as input, including the voices. Here is the result of that experiment:

When many people think of Large Language Models (LLM's), they think of chatbots like chatgpt. Many of these models can also take image inputs. Here is a simple example of a Jupyter notebook where GPT-4o-mini was prompted "What's in this image?" We are using models like this to catalog over 100 years of historic forest management photos in searchable and sortable databases.

Just wrote a short example on how to implement Routing in LangChain JS by using LLM Classifiers to call different prompts:

Routing in LangChain JS - Use LLM Classifiers to Call Different Prompts

Let's take a look at how to use LLM classifiers in LangChain JS to dynamically select prompts based on the query type. This will allow us to tailor more context-aware responses to the user's questions. Based on the input we receive from users, we may want to call the LLM with different prompts. For example, … Continue reading "Routing in LangChain JS – Use LLM Classifiers to Call Different Prompts"

Well, that's interesting. The tweet is gone, but this article is still on Techmeme -> OpenAI to Launch Google Search Alternative Soon

"If the rumors are true, OpenAI’s Google Search alternative release might come ahead of Google I/O, which is scheduled for May 10, 2024. This might also make Perplexity AI redundant. Microsoft recently banned its employees from using Perplexity AI, citing security concerns."
