Utterly absurd take I've seen circulating: technology was in perfect balance in the 90s-00s.

Dudes, we were barrelling toward climate change, media corps were rapidly centralising, tech capital was ascending, and people were already panicking about The Kids being hooked on screens. And once again: barrelling towards climate change.

I have nothing original or insightful to add but also don’t want to just stay silent when the US attacks its third country this holiday season (Nigeria and Iran before). The attack on #Venezuela is a bloody coup, breaking all international law. It should be condemned by all other leaders but many (Starmer) will not do that, of course.

As a part of moving away from US-based Big Tech services, in 2025, I:

- Sold my iPhone and moved to a used Pixel 9a with GrapheneOS
- Moved from Apple Photos/iCloud to Immich
- Canceled my Spotify subscription and moved to a self-hosted Navidrome instance + Symphonium
- Archived all my active GitHub repositories and moved them to a self-hosted Forgejo instance at https://git.notthebe.ee

The next big step is to ditch Cloudflare and move to a EU-hosted DNS provider such as Netim or Gandi.
