Anyway, our current plan is "throw money at professionals to tell as how to throw more money at them so they can fix it." Which as far as plans go is not the worst I've heard.
It is going to be a pain in the ass if, as I suspect from the water patterns on the aforementioned rug pad, there's a drain in the floor IN the bedroom. But we will work around this one way or another.

Doing better today. Still really pissed off about the situation but the only thing that got ruined was the pad under my office rug. It could have been worse.

Today we're starting to brainstorm and make plans for how to fix shit. The first and foremost is that the laminate boards down there have got to go. They're just on the basement floor with no sort of underfloor or vapor barrier or anything.

Yesterday was a really bad mental health day. Just absolute system shutdown at dealing with the idea that we spent a LOT of money just six months ago to move into a 3 bedroom house where one of the rooms is not usable as a bedroom (or in my case, office). Literally all I did yesterday until like 5pm was stare at whatever came up on YouTube. Most of it wasn't even good.

'AI Is African Intelligence': The Workers Who Train AI Are Fighting Back

So as it stands I don’t really have a usable office for the moment and we have to figure out what we can do to prevent this in the future.
So. After work we moved all the stuff off the rug and pulled it up. Based on the water spots on the rug mat suggest that there are probably two drains in the floor that previous owners just put floorboards over. These drains apparently backed up and soaked through the floor. So that’s fun.
Heard some weird squishy noises when I stepped on the rug in my office and a little investigation later I have discovered that water has seeped under the floorboards in my office. So that’s a fun thing I get to deal with now.
Today in Copilot is Bad: I was stuck on a case and had asked my internal Teams chat about the errors I was seeing. Nobody had any suggestions. So I reluctantly did the thing I’m supposed to do now and asked Copilot, which immediately said “I found information on this error!” and summarized the literal message I had just typed into Teams.
