We lost access to our old case management system at work and the only way to access any of the data in it is to ask our internal Copilot instance, which was fed all the old cases prior to us losing access. I’m now forced to use it.

And I gotta say? It sucks.

I ask it for results for specific error messages and it says “yeah there are some that reference that error” and then spits out a bunch of only tangentially related troubleshooting tips.

Every time somebody tries to convince me that AI is great and they are just barely successful enough to have me actually give it a try, it is a letdown. Even when they say “this is exactly how I use it”, like “all you need to do is type the error message into Copilot and it will find old cases prior resolutions.” It never works. I remain, yet again, unconvinced.
Today in Copilot is Bad: I was stuck on a case and had asked my internal Teams chat about the errors I was seeing. Nobody had any suggestions. So I reluctantly did the thing I’m supposed to do now and asked Copilot, which immediately said “I found information on this error!” and summarized the literal message I had just typed into Teams.
@benmo 🤦‍♂️truly amazing
@benmo That's the whole point. It can't think. It can't follow your line of reasoning. It can't get to know you as a person to understand any of the aforementioned better. It is simply a jumped-up decision tree that can call functions...
