Technology nerd. I love open source technology but use Mac and Windows, too. Hobbyist programmer, mostly using Python. Video games of all shapes and sizes.

Music nerd. I play guitar and bass, and am learning piano. Plus I have a mandolin which languishes in disuse because I'm very bad at it.

Flight Sim Guy enough to have an Airbus joystick; not Flight Sim Guy enough to have rudder pedals.

Today we said goodbye to our sweet and beautiful princess Amalthea. My wife had her for 17 and a half years, and was part of my life for 9. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by the only two people she ever loved. Gone, but never forgotten.

When I first moved here l, I didn’t really know anybody and decided to treat myself to a nice sushi dinner for my birthday. Picked the restaurant off of some random yelp reviews.

10 years later and I’ve been back (or gotten takeout during Covid lockdowns) every year since.

/sigh

I gotta get some Cat6 routed to my basement office.
I know me from ten years ago would have killed for 93 Mbps down but current me has a 1 Gbps internet line.

Improving the WiFi signal would surely help but I just want a cable.

Doing some work at the new house.

House doesn’t have internet for music? No problem! Go retro instead. Glad I’ve kept this old iPod speaker all these years.

About to learn about some sort of bastard or another.

Okay I did it, because it’s one of the kings of beater watches and I also just love cheap-ass Casio watches.

Was torn between this one and the “Pepsi” bezel (red and blue) but I think I made the right choice.

I was also worried about it being too big because he’s a big boy, but it actually works quite well.

I have solved this by manually blurring and lightening the background of the widget (also, different wallpaper entirely, obvs.)

It actually looks really good but it is a ludicrous amount of work every time I change my phone wallpaper.

I have gone to great lengths to mimic widgets with transparent backgrounds, using a screenshot of the background to make it seamless, and now the Liquid Glass in iOS 26 adds a border around them and it ruins the effect.

I am irrationally upset at this.

I was doom scrolling and instead I decided to take the ebike out and grab a beer on a patio. It’s a perfectly gorgeous day out and just cool enough to have a stout.
