So mastodon.online has been pretty hit and miss lately which is completely understandable given all the new folks joining. I’m thinking about jumping to another instance to relieve some of the pressure but is it better to wait it out? For those who have switched instances already, is there anything to look out for? Driving home from my daughter’s tennis lesson with the windows down on a 70 degree Fall day. As ‘Intergalactic’ by Beastie Boys comes on the radio, conversation stops and a head-bobbing, dance party, sing-a-long ensues. The next 15 minutes are spent taking turns picking out alt rock songs to sing along to as we make our way home. popeyFree idea: Setup a site called "Unverified(.)me" which links to ideas for better things you can do with $8/$20 per month than Twitter. Include print papers & magazine subscriptions, artists, and other creators. Also have a section for charities which could do with the cash too.
Getting ready to officiate my third funeral in two weeks. If I’m being honest, I used to dread doing funerals. There’s still a lot of things I’d rather be doing, but I’ve come to see the beauty in being invited to tell someone’s story to those who loved them most. It’s a humbling and moving thing to be a part of; helping solidify the best parts of them in the memories of those who will continue telling their stories in their lives.
